Desert Southwest 2022
We took our fourth US driving trip since the start of the COVID pandemic, traveling through portions of the Desert Southwest as far as west Texas for over three weeks in March and April, 2022.
We drove from home to Palm Springs for two nights, and then to Tucson with a stop in Phoenix.
We drove from Tucson across southern New Mexico to El Paso, Texas, where we spent two nights.
We visited Guadalupe Mountains and Carlsbad Canyon National Parks, plus the towns of Carlsbad, Pecos and Fort Davis in New Mexico and Texas.
We headed south to Big Bend Ranch State Park, the Terlingua Ghost Town and Big Bend National Park.
We spend more time in Big Bend National Park and stayed in the small town of Marathon, Texas.
We visited Las Cruces, NM, along with White Sands National Park and El Malpais National Monument. Read more...
We next visited Petrified Forest National Park, before taking I-40 through Flagstaff and Williams back to California.
We spent three nights in the town of Joshua Tree and visited its nearby National Park before returning home.
